Opposition lawmakers in the Faroe Islands are calling for fundamental changes in the county’s home-rule agreement with Copenhagen after a series of foreign policy decisions they feel have run counter to Tóshavn’s interests, The Arctic Journal reports.

The Faroe Islands, like Greenland, another member of the Kingdom of Denmark, has broad powers of autonomy. Copenhagen, however, retains control over foreign and security policy, and Tjóðveldi, an independence-minded party, and Framsókn, a centrist party, say they want to see these powers come under Faroese control by the end of the year.
