Hospital officials in Reykjavik worry about the effects the strike of is having on Landspítali University Hospital.
Director Páll Matthíasson told mbl.is, “I must say I hope we, here at Landspítali, and the nation as a whole, will never again have to experience a whole year plagued by one strike after another. Thank God it hasn’t caused serious harm.”
“The situation in the emergency room yesterday was very serious,” Páll said. “Everything was full, and well beyond that, and the situation was very difficult. It was hard to get seriously ill people admitted to various hospital departments, already overcrowded.”
