Forsvaret har en liten stasjon på polarøya Jan Mayen, som ligger på grensa mellom Norskehavet og Grønlandshavet. Her har Forsvaret 15 ansatte med ansvar for drift av en flyplass og annen infrastruktur. Meteorologisk institutt har også to ansatte på øya.
