The U.S. Coast Guard-Finland icebreaker deal made headlines last month. A total of 11 medium Arctic Security Cutter vessels are under way to the US icebreaker fleet, courtesy of Finland.

In October, High North News visited the Finnish Jager Brigade in Lapland as part of a study tour organized by Barents Press. There, we were able to join an exercise with young recruits who are training to defend the High North against Russia.
