Rapp Marine in Bodø, Norway, recently signed a substantial contract for equipment to two large Chinese research vessels. It is their 9th Chinese contract in three years.

Rapp Marine in Bodø, Norway, has won 9 out of 11 international tenders on Chinese research vessels that have been announced on the international market during the past three years.

- In a maritime industry that struggles, we now have record-high order reserves, totaling 250 million NOK, Chief Executive Officer Helge Vatnehol of Rapp Marine says to Sysla

Last December his company secured an extensive contract for equipment to two large Chinese research vessels. The contract is worth 50 million NOK and is the largest single order Rapp Marine has signed in China. The company supplies winches and on-deck machinery.

Rapp Marine has worked with research vessels since its conception in the mid-1970s. While having participated in the offshore boom too, the company has nevertheless maintained its focus on vessels for fishing and research. Last autumn they signed six contracts for equipment to Danish, Irish and Russian trawlers. It has also signed a contract for equipment to an Australian ice breaker.

Rapp Marine has its headquarters in Bodø, Norway, while its production moved to Serbia two years ago.
