Search Begins for Reykjavík Citizen of the Year

For the fourteenth time, the mayor of Icelands capital Reykjavík is asking for comments from residents about someone that has been a role model in the city. The tips will be used to choose the Reykjavík Citizen of the Year 2024, as reported by Icelandic broadcaster RUV.

Individuals who have benefitted Reykjavík and its residents in some way will be considered. This could be someone who has had a positive impact on city life, worked for a local community, or made a big difference in the city in recent years in some other way.

Whoever receives recognition as "Reykjavík Citizen of the Year" has the honour of opening the Elliðaá river for salmon fishing along with the mayor. deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, June 10, 2024.
