Today the Joint Viking military exercise commences in Finnmark, Norway. The exercise includes both Norwegian, American and British forces.


Today the Joint Viking military exercise commences in Finnmark, Norway. The exercise includes both Norwegian, American and British forces.

The annual Joint Viking exercise takes place between Lakselv and Alta in Finnmark, Norway, mainly along the coastline.

The main targets for the drill are, according to the Norwegian Defense, to exercise crisis management and defense of Norway. The exercise lasts until Wednesday 15 March.

Approximately 8.000 soldiers participate in Joint Viking 2017, among them 700 soldiers from the USA and Great Britain.
