Widerøe Is Doing Well on Faroe Islands
The capacity on Widerøe's year-old flight route between Norway and the Faroe Islands (Bergen-Vágar) has more than doubled, writes Sermitsiaq.
The Norwegian airline opened the route in September last year, initially with weekly flights. The offer has gradually been expanded with three additional flights a week, with departures every day of the week except Saturday.
Widerøe is open to new destinations, but so far has no plans to include Greenland, says communications advisor Line Lindegaard Carlsen to the aforementioned newspaper.
The airline has its head office in Bodø, and will be visited on Thursday by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor). He will then receive a presentation on how Widerøe is restructuring to become one of the world's first near-emissions-free airlines.
