The US Second Fleet Fully Operative in the Arctic Again

The American Navy’s Second Fleet is now fully operational again, according to Sermitsiaq. The fleet was reactivated in 2018 following increased Russian activity in the Arctic.

The Second Fleet now carries the responsibility for monitoring ship- and air traffic in the North Atlantic and Arctic.

The fleet was originally in operation from 1950 to 2011.
