The US Provides 4,5 Million for Greenlandic Teacher Training
The American government aid agency USAID grants 450 000 dollars (4,5 million NOK) to a foundation for entrepreneurship, Kalaallit Nuunat, in Greenland. The funds will specifically go to supplementary teacher training for innovation teachers. This is reported by the Greenlandic national broadcaster KNR.
"The funds provide us with the opportunity to strengthen the next generation faster, and it especially provides the opportunity to create some teaching courses outside of Nuuk to a much higher degree than now," says Jacob Nitter Sørensen, Chairman of the foundation, to KNR.
In 2020, the USA offered to donate 12,1 million dollars through USAID to civilian development projects in Greenland, something the Greenlandic national board Naalakkersuisut accepted. The support for the entrepreneurial foundation is a part of this.
