Tree Hugging Championship Set for August 20 in Arctic Finland

The annual tree hugging championship will take place on the 20th of August in Levi, Finnish Lapland. This is reported by Eye on the Arctic.

This will be the third championship arranged by the family business Halipuu. The idea behind the event was to cheer people up during the COVID pandemic.

This year, Halipuu expects that participants from ten different countries or regions will compete in "speed-hugging" (hug as many trees as possible in one minute), "dedication" and "freestyle".

The championship will be live streamed on Youtube, and people can also participate online by sharing pictures of themselves hugging a tree in their home country.
