Talga Wants To Open a Graphite Mine in Kiruna's Forests
The mining company Talga wants to start mining graphite for battery production outside the town of Vittangi in Kiruna municipality, which is located in Swedish Lapland. That is reported by SVT Norrbotten.
In these forests are one of the world's best graphite deposits, which, according to the company, develops graphite materials for green battery anodes in northern Sweden. The Talga group is headquartered in Australia.
Talga wants permission as soon as possible to establish an open put with an associated industrial area, more specifically in Nunassvaara outside of Vittangi and refers to the major electrical conversion in, among other places, the car industry.
There are several endangered species in the area, such as strawberry chanterelle, according to the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
