More than 30 plastic bags were found in the stomach of a beached Cuvier's beaked whale in Norway in 2017. Scientists blamed the rubbish for the whale's death. "This brought to our attention that many of the countries that are most affected by marine litter do not produce that litter themselves,” Norway's foreign minister, Ine Eriksen Søreide, said.
