Surge in Snow Crab Export

Norway exported a total of 390 tons of snow crab worth NOK 55 million during July, according to a press release from the Norwegian Seafood Council. That represents a 236 percent increase in volume and an increase in value of NOK 39 million (or 244 percent) compared to July last year. Denmark and Japan constituted the most important markeds for snow crab in July.

So far, Norway has exported 1,800 tons of snow crab worth NOK 244 million this year. That represents an increase in volume of 146 percent, and an increase in value of 151 percent or NOK 147 million.

In Asia, the demand for Norwegian crabs is high and snow crab exports contributes to meeting this demand, says chief analyst Frank Isaksen of the Norwegian Seafood Council.
