Strengthens the Finnmark Defense With Artillery

"The government is speeding up the announced purchase of K9 artillery guns for the Finnmark Brigade. Norway wants to accelerate what is important: to build capacities in the North now due to the security situation being what it is."

The statement was made by Norway's Minister of Defense, Tore O. Sandvik (Labor), to NRK. Sandvik was in Porsangmoen camp in Finnmark on Wednesday to mark the establishment of Norway's new brigade.

The MoD emphasizes that this means a faster build-up and greater firepower. These guns shoot 40 kilometers with great accuracy and will help strengthen the Finnmark Brigade.

The purchase is valued at NOK 5.6 billion.
