Secures Helicopter Preparedness in Northern Norway
The Norwegian government wants to lease civilian helicopters to secure police helicopter availability in Northern Norway. The armed forces will provide temporary helicopter assistance until the police has established a leasing agreement.
The government wants to increase the police budget allocation by NOK 61 million (€ 6 mill.) in the state budget for 2020 to this purpose.
The government also aims to establish a new SAR helicopter base in Tromsø in order to improve SAR preparedness and capacity in Northern Norway.
