Sami People Drink More Rarely than Others
Two recent reports show that Sami men and women drink alcohol less frequently than those of other ethnic background, according to NRK.
Researcher Ann Ragnhild Broderstad from the Center for Sami Health Research at the University of Tromsø says the difference can be explained by where the Sami live. Other factors also matter, such as the fact that the drinking patterns in cities are different from those in more rural areas.
The reports also show that the Sami use more snuff than others and in Norway’s two northernmost counties, Sami men and women are on top of the list of snuff users for both men and women.
