Planning Major Adventure Tourism Project in Greenland

A Greenland tourism and construction investment company wants to develop a year-round adventure tourism resort on the Aqqutikitsoq Glacier on Greenland’s west coast in cooperation with its Icelandic partner, according to Sermitsiaq. The resort is to also include a zoo with Arctic animals, in close collaboratoin with Aalborg Zoo.

Greenlandic Sikumiut and Icelandic Wings Capital are behind the resort plans. They have secured co-financing from Greenland Venture as well as a state-owned seed fund. The Qeqqerta local authorities are also reported to be in favor of the project.

The project is conditioned on the building of a new road, the Arctic Circle Road, from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut.
