Norwegian PM Støre Participated in Polar Summit

The Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre participated in One Planet – Polar Summit, a summit on the polar regions and other areas where glaciers and sea ice are threatened by global warming. Norway is present at the summit as a leading polar nation and chair of the Arctic Council (2023-2025).

"Norway is the only state in the world with areas in both the Arctic and Antarctica," said Støre, according to a press release. "For us, it is important that the Arctic Council remains as the most important international forum for Arctic matters. The Arctic Council's core tasks are to counteract climate change, ensure sustainable development, and facilitate for people to live good lives," the PM added.

The summit, dedicated to glaciers and poles, was held in Paris from November 8th - November 10th.
