New Trauma Treatment to Help Greenland’s Children

New methods for assessing and treating trauma in children will now be implemented in Greenland, according to KNR.

Every third child in Greenland born during the 1990s has, according to the Danish institute of public health, had a childhood with alcohol abuse and violence at home, and one in five children has been subject to sexual assaults.

So far, there has not been any systematic help available for these children; howver, a recent PhD dissertation has developed and adjusted a series of tools that will now be implemented in Greenland.

The program has already been implemented in three out of five municipalities in the country.
