New Greenlandic Research Vessel

Greenland’s Institute for Nature has tasked the Spanish shipyard Balenciaga with the construction of its new research vessel, according to KNR.

The ship will be 61 meters long and cost DKK 235 million. It will have a reinforced hull enabling it to operate under ice conditions. Funding is provided by the Self-Rule Authorities as well as Aage V. Jensen’s Charitable Funds.

The ship is scheduled to operate from 2021.
