New Commanding Officer of Denmark's Joint Arctic Command

On Monday, Denmark's Chief of Defense, Flemming Lentfer, appointed Søren Andersen as Major General and new Commanding Officer of the Joint Arctic Command.

The Chief of Defense emphasized the command's central importance concerning the defense's important tasks in Arctic regions and the strong cooperation with the Greenlandic and Faroese authorities in several areas.

Andersen comes from the position of Chief of Staff at the Joint Operational Staff in the Defence Command Denmark.

He has his first day of work at the Arctic Command in Nuuk, Greenland, tomorrow, Thursday.

"I think it will be super exciting and hopefully also challenging. I look forward to working with the people of the Arctic Command, with the units assigned to the command, and with the various partners in the Faroe Islands and Greenland. I am also looking forward to getting to know the Faroe Islands and Greenland inhabitants," says Andersen.
