Mass Redudancy of up to 30 Employees at Kimek Shipyard in Kirkenes
The board of the Kimek shipyard in Kirkenes has announced mass redundancies in the company.
"It is with great regret that the board feels compelled to make redundancies. The company had full order books for the entire year before the government published its reminder that repairs to Russian fishing boats were covered by the sanctions," the board writes in a press release.
The government's reminder thus prevents further work with Russian vessels.
"The decision includes downsizing of up to 30 people," reads the press release.
The company has approximately 80 employees.
They have some work to do after the two ships that they have been given a waiver to complete are finished. This includes, among other things, a welding assignment from Equinor.
