Malaysian Billionaire Wants to Build in Greenland
Malaysian Vincent Tan, Chairman of the Board and owner of the luxurious Berjava hotel chain, wants to build a luxury hotel and 90 apartments in Nuuk, according to Sermitsiaq. A former rejection of his plans to build a hotel at the Kolonihavnen harbor in Nuuk has not discouraged him.
Local authorities have now suggested two new locations for a potential hotel, none of which have been disclosed to the public as of yet.
One of Tan’s advisors says to Sermitsiaq that it has also been decided to build 90 apartments with a gym and coffee shop facilities, as well as opportunities for establishing small shops. The building is to be erected in Qinngorput, an area not far from Nuuk town center.
- We are convinced that there will be a greater need for housing in Nuuk once the new airport is finished, says advisor Alex Tan Ghee Keong to the paper.
