Lukoil Read for Test Drilling in the Barents Sea in 2019
Lukoil Overseas North Shelf AS was awarded shares of license 858 at the Fedynsky height in the Barents Sea during the 23rd round of [Norwegian] petroleum license awarding. This license is located near the Norwegian-Russian border.
The first test well was originally scheduled to be drilled in 2018, however, the partnership is currently considering drilling in the second or third quarter of 2019, according to petro.no. The entire area of the PL858 Barents Sea license covers 1.432 square kilometers. Partners include Aker BP (operator), Lukoil, Equinor and Petoro.
In 2011, LUKOIL Overseas North Shelf AS became the first Russian oil company to be pre-qualified as an operator on the Norwegian continental shelf.
