Local Council Votes Against Luxury Hotel Near Lake Þingvallavatn

The suggest plans for a luxury hotel bordering on Þingvellir National Park in Iceland have been turned down by the local municipality.

The municipality of Bláaskógabyggð in Iceland has recently voted against the idea of building a luxurious hotel and spa in the area of Skálabrekka, at the border with Þingvellir National Park.  An Icelandic couple had drafted a proposal to build a luxury hotel next to the National Park which would be comprised of 120 to 160 rooms, according to the Reykjavik Grapevine.
