Kangerlussuaq Airport Runway to be Renovated

Authorities in Greenland have announced that work to renovate the runway at Kangerlussuaq Airport will commence in less than three years, according to Sermitsiaq.

This renovation is necessary for civilian planes, Danish and American air forces to continue using the airport. The Danish air force needs a fully functional runway of 2,500 meters in Kangerlussuaq.

As for a new airport in Kangerlussuaq, the authorities say work is ongoing with a demand assessment as well as an updated viability study. Work has also been done to establish a new road to Kangerlussuaq.
