Iceland Shelves Plans About Port Adjustments for NATO Vessels

The red-green alliance parties of the Icelandic government refuse to accept the proposed project about facilitating the receiving of NATO vessels in Helguvik port, according to Icelandic daily Morgunbladid.

The case has not been formally discussed in the government, however, in informal conversations between the four government coalition parties, the red-green alliance has been clear that it will not accept such a proposal.

The proposal was originally suggested by local port authorities in Helguvik, and the project had an estimated cost of some 12-18 billion Icelandic kroner and should have provided hundreds of jobs.
