Iceland Joins Defense Cooperation
Iceland has signed an agreement with Great Britain about entering into the British-led Joint Expeditionary Forces (JEF) defense coooperation, according to Sermitsiaq.
Iceland wil be the 10th member of this group, which also includes the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and the Netherlands, with Britain at the helm.
In contrast to NATO, the JEF cooperation manages smaller and clearly defined operations.
According to Iceland’s ministry of foreign affairs, the JEF cooperation is not aimed at particular states, but rather based on shared defense interests for like-minded states.
