High levels of SO2 at Blue Lagoon

The air quality at Blue Lagoon is currently very poor as levels of SO2 are quite high. The attraction is scheduled to open on Thursday.

That is reported by RÙV Iceland.

The gas pollution comes from the volcanoes at Sundhnúksgíga. A natural disaster specialist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office says the regional administration will be briefed if the levels remain high in a few days.

Gas pollution was detected at the Environmental Agency's meter in Hafnir last night, but the values have decreased again.

Three craters are still erupting, and a visible but slow lava flow is flowing south of Hagafell.
