A-ha Hails the Arctic with New Music and Film

A-ha announces its first album since the 2016 “Cast in Steel” album. The new album contains 12 new songs and will be published early next year, according to NRK Troms and Finnmark.

It will all be recorded at Svømmehallen Scene in Bodø, Norway, and old swimming hall turned concert arena.

“’True North’ will be a-ha’s musical journey letter from the High North – a live concert made for film, with only new material. This is our melancholic tribute to the ocean and Arctic nature”, says band member Magne Furuholmen, according to the article.

The project is a collaboration between a-ha, Bodø 2024 European Capital of Culture, Svømmehallen Scene, the Parken Festival as well as the Arctic Philharmonic, which will play with a-ha on all the tracks.

The last time the band presented new music was in 2015. The band’s engagement with the environment forms the core of the new project.
