Greenland’s opposition wants more Danish child care assistance

A unified opposition in Greenland wants to force the self-rule authorities to request help from Denmark in providing better child care services for children in Tasiilaq and the rest of Greenland, according to Sermitsiaq. Representatives from Partii Naleraq, IA, Atassut, Samarbejdspartiet og Demokraterne have signed the petition.

The DR documentar ‘Byen hvor børn forsvinder’ [The city where children disappear’] describes the conditions in Tasiilaq and has angered the public.

Naalakkersuisoq (minister) of social affairs Martha Abelsen said in an 11 May press statement that Greenland’s social issues authorities already are cooperating closely with relevant Danish authorities.
