Greenlandic Businesses Stop All Exports to Russia

Iceberg Seafood and Royal Greenland have paused all exports to Russia due to the western sanctions against Russia in the wake of Putin’s war against Ukraine, Sermitsiaq reports.

“Our sales to Russia has been paused as it is impossible to get money out from the country”, says Director Jesper Lauritzen from Iceberg Seafoods to the paper.

Iceberg Seafood, Royal Greenland and Polar Seafood last year exported fish and seafood products for DKK 600 million to Russia.

Russia has in particular been a large and important market with significant turnover growth in recent year for the two largest exporters to this market, Polar Seafood and Iceberg Seafood.
