Greenland Will Develop Arctic Strategy of Its Own

Greenland’s self-rule government Naalakkersuisut seeks more influence in foreign policy and plans on developing its own Arctic strategy, according to KNR.

Naalakkersuisut Premier Múte B. Egede from the IA party says Greenlands will have its own foreing policy and Arctic strategy; nevertheless, he stresses, this does not exclude the option of also having a joint Arctic strategy with Denmark and the Faroe Islands.

Greenland, Denmark and the Faroe Islands in 2011 agreed on a ten-year Arctic strategy, an agreement expiring last year. A new agreement is still being negotiated and has been for some time, the outcome of which is not yet clear.
