Greenland Wants Shipping Responsibility

Greenlands self-rule government Naalakkersuisut wants to take over the responsibility for sea safety, ship registration and sea law issues, according to Sermitsiaq.

Denmark is currently holding this responsibility.

A former analyses shows that bringing shipping responsibilities under Greenlandic rule will cost Greenland some DKK 35 million annually.

Henrik Fleischer of the Siumut part has presented the proposal, which will be debated in Greenlands parliament Inatsisartut on 25 April.
