Greenland Wants Presence in Beijing from 2021
The Naalakkersuisut, Greenland’s self-rule authority, suggests establishing a permanent representation office in Beijing from 2021, and estimates that its operating budget will be DKK 2.5 million annually, according to Sermitsiaq.
Naalakkersuisut claims that experience shows that cooperation with China and Japan may be challenging as many Chinese and Japanese actors are not familiar with the self-rule regime in Greenland. Being directly represented in East Asia is to improve this situation, according to Naalakkersuisut.
Greenland currently has representation offices in Brussels, Washington D.C. and Reyjkavik.
