Greenland Party Secretary Resigns Amidst Allegations of Sexual Misconduct
Mikael Petersen, Party Secretary of the Siumut party, which is represented in Greenland’s self-rule government, was relieved of his duties Tuesday last week following ten women’s accusing him of sexual misconduct, Sermitsiaq reports.
The ten women have all provided letters with written descriptions of verbal and physical mistreatment Petersen allegedly has subjected them to. The ten letters were sent to the party’s main committee, requesting the committee to take action.
Petersen argues that the accusations do not hold true. He says to Sermitsiaq that he does not recognize the stories described in the allegations and argues that it is all part of a play for power.
After his being relieved of his duties, he chose to resign from his post. Petersen is now looking for an attorney to take his case.
