Greenland Municipality Harshly Criticized Over Lack of Child Protection

A large group of children and youth in Qeqertalik municipality in Greenland do not receive the care and protection they are entitled to and the municipality should act immediately, according to a recent report from the Children’s Spokesperson in Greenland, KNR reports.

Key findings in the report include sexual offences, extensive hash abuse and lack of processing of concern notifications. The Children’s Spokesperson has traveled towns and communities for 29 days, speaking with 175 children, adults and professionals before writing its report.

Local authorities as well as the spokesperson have so far not been available for comments on the report and its recommendations.
