Greenland Ice Melting in London

Nearly 122 tons of ice are currently melting in the streets of London in order to direct attention towards climate change. The ice blocks from the Greenlandic inland ice of Nuuk Kangerlua are placed on key London locations under the name ‘IceWatch’.

The project was created by the Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson in collaboration with professor Minik Rosing, according to KNR, which also published images from the exhibition.

The goal of exhibiting the melting ice blocks is for people in London to understand what the current discussions at the climate conference is all about. – In that respect, the ice on the streets of London represent a sort of miniature Greenlandic embassy, says Olafur Eliasson.
