Greenland Enters Into 10-Year Transport Service Agreements Without Public Tender

Greenland’s Naalakkersuisoq (minister) for infrastructure Karl Frederik Danielsen (S) confirms to KNR that negotiations are ongoing for ten-year contracts for passenger transport from 1.1.2021. He also confirms that these contracts have not been announced through public tenders.

Current agreements have lasted for four years and expire at the end of the year. Today, it is not possible to buy tickets to travel anywhere inside Greenland after 1 January 2021.

Last week, draft new service contracts for passenger transportation in Greenland were submitted from the Naalakkersuisoq to the Inatsisartut’s (parliament) Committee on Finance and Taxes.

In February, the Naalakkersuisoq was permitted to negotiate with passenger transport providers around the country about new agreements. These agreements, the Minister confirms, have not been announced through public tenders.
