Greenland Cancels Airport Bidding Competition
Kalaallit Airports in Greenland has cancelled a bidding competition for the construction of runway and terminal building at the new airport in Qaqortoq, according to Sermitsiaq.
The reason is that bids received were priced substantially higher than budgeted. Negotiations with the bidders were not successful.
Kalaallit Airports says it will now continue dialogue with the self-rule authorities regarding the possibilities for further funding of the airport development project. The goal is to announce a new bidding competition in 2021 and to have the project completed by 2024.
