Greenland Ask Denmark For Help With Forest Fires

A forest fire ignited as early as in the beginning of July has offered long-lasting challenges for Greenland’s fire department.

The fire was ignited east of Sisimiut, located on the northwestern coast of Greenland. After first having gained control of the fire about a week ago, it has now spun out of control again and large areas are on fire. Much of the fire is smoldering underneath the surface.

Greenland has now requested 30 firemen to be sent from Denmark, according to Sermitsiaq.
