First University in Canada North of 60

Yukon College, based in Whitehorse, has made the transition to become Yukon University.

YukonU is the first university in Canada's northern territories.

"With over 50 degree, diploma, certificate, trades and university prep programs, YukonU will continue the tradition of northern-focused education, training and applied research established by Yukon College, while expanding opportunities for northerners," according to the university's website.
