Finnish MoD Stops Real Estate Sale to Chinese-owned Company in Lapland

On Wednesday, Finland’s Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen decided to reject an application from a Chinese-owned company to buy a real estate in Rovaniemi, Northern Finland.

The real estate is located in the vincity of an exercise area of the Finnish defense forces.

The Finnish Ministry of Defense justifies the decision by stating, among other things, that the acquisition could threaten national security and hinder the organisation of national defense.
