Emptied ‘Northguider’ Without Diesel Spills

All diesel tanks of the ‘Northguider’ prawn trawler, which ran aground on Svalbard on 28 December, have now been emptied. – The salvaging crew have done a tremendous job, says Rune Bergstrøm of the Norwegian Coastal Authorities to Kyst og fjord. He describes the operation as successful.

The emergency offloading of diesel from ‘Northguider’ was completed last Sunday.

A total of 332 cubic meters of marine diesel have been transferred from the trawler to the KV Svalbard coast guard vessel with the aid of small boats shuttling 1,000 liter plastic tanks between the ‘Northguider’ and KV Svalbard.
