Drug Charges Against Six People in Longyearbyen

The Svalbard Governor has arrested and charged six permanent residents in Longyearbyen for violations of drug regulations, according to Svalbardposten. The six were taken into custody Thursday night and Friday morning. 

"This includes both import, possession and use. We have confiscated minor drug quantums", says Deputy Svalbard Governor Sølvi Elvedahl. "The operation is the outcome of cooperation with custom authorities."

The Governor is conducting further investigation.
