Distrust Towards Faroese Politician

When the general election on the Faroe Islands is over on Tuesday and work in the Faroese parliament resumes, Tjóðveldi, the Faroese Republican Party, will present a motion of no confidence against Janis av Rana from the Christian party Miðflokkurin. The reasoning is that Rana said he could not support a gay prime minister on October 25th. That is reported by the news agency Fonyhedsbureau.

A united opposition and one from the coalition are ready to overthrow Jenis av Rana, the national government's leader in cultural and foreign affairs. The statement came in a radio interview where Rana was asked if he would support a gay prime minister. 

"Not going to happen. Living as a so-called homosexual is contrary to my own beliefs, which I share with the party, and which I believe the Faroe Islands also do," said Rana.

16 out of 33 parliamentarians support the motion of no confidence. Thus, one vote is missing for a majority. Leader of the party Sambandsflokkurin, Bárður á Steig Nielsen, says that he distances himself from the statements and that he has given Jenis av Rana an indictment.
