Denmark Reinforces Submarine Hunt in Greenland, Faroe Islands
The Danish defense has recently spent DKK 1.3 billion on buying advanced equipment from the USA, according to KNR.
The equipment mainly consists of sonars aimed at detecting foreign submarine activity in Danish waters, in particular around Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Nine dip sonars that can be attached to helicopters and lowered into water, 600 sonar buoys that can be deployed across large sea areas, as well as three sonars that can be towed by vessels are among the purchase items.
- This is something that NATO has wanted us to improve, says the Danish Navy Chief, Rear Admiral Torben Mikkelsen.
