Denmark officially receives its first F-35 fighters
On Sunday, Denmark will officially receive its first four F-35A fighter jets at Skrydstrup Air Base from the American Lockheed Martin Corporation, the Danish Armed Forces reports.
Denmark decided to buy 27 fighters of this type in 2016 to replace its F-16s. The Danish Armed Forces aims for the F-35s to be fully operational in 2027 and ready for participation in international missions.
When Sweden also joins NATO, the Nordic allies will have between 200 and 250 modern fighters (existing and planned acquisitions) of the type F-35 and Swedish JAS 39 Gripen.
In 2022, Finland ordered 64 F-35A fighters – with delivery from 2026 and full operational implementation in 2030. Recently, the head of the Commander of the Finnish Air Force announced that the F-35 program is progressing as planned.
