Denmark Accepts American Consulate in Greenland

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has notified the USA of its approving of the opening of an American consulate in Nuuk, Greenland according to Sermitsiaq.

The MFA is currently awaiting information from the USA regarding who the new consul will be as well as how they want to staff the office. The Consul-to-be will have to be approved by the Danish MFA following consultations with Greeland’s authorities.

The USA has previously stated that it wants to staff the consulate in Nuuk with two diplomats as well as up to five civilian staff members who they aim to recruit in Nuuk.
